North Minneapolis Partnerships
St. Anne's Place
For many years, Parkway has supported the families at St. Anne's Place with a Thanksgiving meal and homemade pies, hats and gloves during the cold winter months, and gifts for mothers on Mother's Day. St. Anne's Place provides emergency shelter and support services to women and children who are experiencing homelessness, approximately 150 families each year. Money from Parkway's endowment is designated to support this important work in our neighborhood each year.
Northside Art Gallery
Parkway supports local arts and artists through its Northside Art Gallery. We have installed professional hanging equipment and adjustable lighting to create an ideal venue for visual art. Through partnerships with organizations such as the Northside Arts Collective and artists we know in the community, we have been able to present impressive exhibits throughout the year. Art is displayed at no charge and, if the artist wishes, is available for sale to our members and visitors from the community. This is a way for our congregation to reach out to our neighborhood and to support local art and artists.
Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative
Four weeks every year we transform our space into temporary shelter for families experiencing homelessness. Parkway volunteers provide a safe place to sleep, a hearty meal, engaging family activities, and warm fellowship. Completing the circle of support, professional staff work closely with each family to address their unique barriers to stability so they may leave the shelter program for permanent housing. Families Moving Forward is based in North Minneapolis and is a program of the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative.
Urban Homeworks
Several times a year, Parkway puts together a team of volunteers who roll up their sleeves for a day of tearing down and building up at a North Minneapolis affordable housing renovation. Urban Homeworks is a Christian community development organization working to reweave strong communities in our neighborhood by providing dignified housing opportunities, creating space for construction training, building a network of engaged neighbors, and mobilizing volunteers. Their focus on stability and connecting resources so that individual and communal assets emerge, thrive, and invigorate our neighborhoods has resulted in more than 200 redeveloped properties and a network of 17,000 volunteers, 1,200 construction trainees, and over 400 Urban Neighbors.
NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center
Parkway is an ongoing collection site for the emergency food shelf at the neighboring NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center. NorthPoint is a multi-specialty medical, dental, and mental health center and human service agency that strives to improve the physical and socio-economic health of the North Minneapolis community through an integrated model of health and human services.
Meals on Wheels
One of our members serves as President of the North Minneapolis Meals on Wheels Board of Directors. Meals on Wheels provides help, autonomy, dignity and security for homebound residents, their families, and caregivers. Every year, money from Parkway's endowment is designated to support this important work in our neighborhood.
